Parallel Universe/Vampire Theory
by user PhoenixFlames4713

My friend came up with a theory that there is a universe parallel to this one. The people there are the same and and do the same things as us; its a reflection of this world. Mirrors are the portals. Your opposite in that world unknowingly blocks you from entering. For example: You reach out and touch the mirror and so does your opposite, each blocking the other from passing through.

Every now and then a paradox occurs: A person dies, but their opposite doesn't (usually because of preternatural intervention) they are able to pass through. They kill somebody on the other side, but the opposite on their side doesn't die. They are now a paradox as well. They don't have a reflection anymore, they make the same thing happen to other people. Essentially, they become a vampire.
Medusa Theory
by user Ravenite

I was reading an article about some elongated skulls that were discovered in a temple in my home country back in 1903. At first, my attention was focused on the article, but as I read some key words it got me thinking about Medusa and a POSSIBLE connection.

Most legends are based upon supposed eye-witness accounts and hearsay, is it not? Also most legends are translated into modern language from ancient text. Now what if there was a misinterpretation along the lines?

The reason I say this is because of the article I read. Here is one quote that got me thinking:
"In this skull, the upper part, the cranium, was long and narrow - its maximum breath being less than 75 percent of the maximum length. This together with other elongated features, gave the skull a serpent-like appearance."

Upon reading this, I started to ask, what if it wasn't a head FULL of snakes, but a head LIKE a snake. If the skull would have given this impression it could easily have lead to a misconception.

The second quote that I read made me think it more: "Forging's team of researchers even concluded that the shape of the skulls made it impossible for this person to walk - the only possible movement was a forced, probably very painful, slither."

Could it possibly be that there is an ACTUAL explanation to Medusa? i would like to keep looking into this more and maybe see if the story can in fact hold up.

Parallel Universes
by user Faery_Lova_98

Parallel Universes? Sure it sounds like some sort of term for the latest Syfy film, but some believe that it is really a possible explanation for the way life works on earth. This such topic is a hard one to explain, since it is very closely entwined with Quantum Physics and Mechanics, but then there's that part that ignites interest in people everywhere that does speak of a possible magic, or the forward thinking of people that could bring this idea to reality.

Now to start explaining, you know when you see a tree and you follow it up and eventually it breaks off the trunk into smaller branches? Imagine the tree represents you, the break were the smaller branches come apart signifies a decision in your life that you either take or refuse, and the smaller branches - they signify who you are depending on your reaction to the decision. And to think of it like a tree is a pretty good explanation, because trees have branches that come off branches off branches and so on.

FOR EXAMPLE:

Sally has lived her live normally, until one day she is offered a big job as an executive producer at a big TV station.

(a) she could except the job and go on to become a very rich, well known producer.
(b) she could refuse the job and go about her life and perhaps chose to do something else that could benefit her life. And:
(c) she could ignore the offer and spend her life wondering what she might have done, which could lead to depression etc.

They are exampled of 3 different parallel universes. Some people believe that instead of having a different universes for a single person and every decision they ever make in their life, they are grouped together.

FOR EXAMPLE:

If Sally had taken option (c) and had perhaps become depressed, then her universe would be full of depressed, underachieved people. This world is altered a lot, not just through Sally's decision, but if everyone in her world were lazy or dumb people then perhaps her world would not be as developed as modern day society today.

If Sally had taken option (a) and became very rich and famous, her world may be full of rich high-achieving people who all had high-paying jobs. Perhaps this world would by highly enriched with technologies of the future (e.g. hovercrafts,) because the people of this 'Parallel Sally''s world would all be confident, academic people who had the potential to strive for cures for cancer, etc.
On another idea, some people believe it is possible to travel back and forth between these "Parallel Universes" using a type of time machine. This is where the idea that 'The distinction between the past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion,' said by Albert Einstein. We may never truly know. I hope this has opened your mind, please feel free to inbox me your thoughts and/or creative criticism.
